Xiaomi has rolled out the Redmi Go as its first ever Android Go phone. It was officially announced earlier this week and only a few days after being leaked. We mentioned the phone is arriving this month in Europe with a very affordable price of 80 euros. There is no information on exact availability but now we’ve got news the Xiaomi Redmi Go will be first released in the Philippines. It’s actually out now because the phone launched yesterday, January 31.

The 80 euros in Europe is Php 3,990.00 which is around $76 in the US. The Redmi Go is Xiaomi’s first venture into the Android Go game and we believe it won’t be the last.

The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) and boasts the very basic Android experience. The Go version means apps have been optimized already to reduce storage, data, and even power consumption.

Xiaomi is launching in the Philippines as one of its biggest markets. Xiaomi Global Head of Southeast Asia Steven Shi had this say about the Redmi Go’s arrival in the country: “With Redmi Go making its global debut here, we hope that even more users here will be able to enjoy an amazing smartphone experience at an amazing price. This is part of our commitment to make innovation available to everyone.”

To review the specs, the Xiaomi Redmi Go comes equipped with a 5.0-inch HD screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset, 3000mAh battery, 8MP rear camera with LED flashlight, 5MP selfie camera, two SIM card slots, 8GB built-in storage, and microSD slot for memory expansion up to 128GB.

Mi will sell the Redmi Go in either Blue or Black. Lazada pre-order has started and will end on February 3, 2019. Beginning February 4, the smartphone will be sold in Authorized Mi Stores.

The first 200 Redmi Go phone buyers will receive a free pair of earphones from Xiaomi.
