The numbers don’t lie.
Last week, DxOMark released its final score for the Google Pixel 3’s camera. It received a total of 101, tying it with the Apple iPhone XR as the best single-lens camera currently available on a smartphone
101 is a darn good score, but what does it mean to you?

I hope getting topped by Huawei, HTC, and Apple gives Google enough of a nudge to add a rear telephoto lens to the P4. It should be noted that they did not factor in Night Sight into their score in any way.

Anytime a score goes over 100, what does it even mean anymore? Now that the top performer is at 109, is this out of 110 or 200? If its out of 1000 all these cameras are still garbage…. To me it is irrelevant now. I thought the camera on the 6P was great, apparently that scored only a 73. I thought the Pixel1 was great, that was only a 90. I personally prefer getting more consistently great shots than having the ability to sometimes get "better" shots. Software is king for the average user who isn’t a semi-pro photog.
