Samsung is famous (infamous?) for being dreadfully slow in getting software updates out to their older smartphones, so it is with a bit of joy and a bit of relief that we announce Android Oreo is finally rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, at least in the U.K. territory. The update arrives after official Oreo updates also rolled out to the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy Note 8 – all in the U.K.

As far as reports are concerned, it is confirmed that this update looks to be for variants in the U.K. only for now. If we want to get technical, Samsung’s update server confirms that the update is rolling out for region BTU and model numbers SM-G930F and SM-G935F. This makes these S7 models the first to be updated to Oreo globally.

As we all know, Android 8.0 Oreo brings a lot of features to the table – and this will be incorporated so Samsung Experience 9.0 that arrives with this update. These features may include picture-in-picture mode, Autofill API, adaptive icons, notification channels and snoozing, and a number of other minor features.

The update weighs in at around 1.2GBs, so it will be a heavy download for your device. We recommend you take the update over a strong WiFi connection.
