A new generation of flagship Xperias is coming out of MWC today and in this post, we have details on the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact release date, price, and availability.

Check out our in-depth hands-on look at the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact

The Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact are typical Sony fare: sleek, if somewhat dated design, great specs, and a slew of multimedia and imaging features. The devices feature an “all-new” design language called Ambient Flow, the trendy 18:9 format, front facing stereo speakers, and a new vibration system that is supposed to work in unison with the speakers to let you “feel what you hear.” The camera has been upgraded, now allowing you to shoot 960 fps slow-mo in 1080p.

On paper, these look like great phones, but the crucial price and availability details will make or break the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact. Here’s what we know so far.

Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact release date

The Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact release date is set for late Spring 2018. We’ll update this post when Sony reveals an exact date.

Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact price

Sony has yet to announce an official price for the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact, but their predecessor, the Xperia XZ Premium, retailed for around $800 when it launched in the US last year. We believe the new Xperias will be available in the same range.

Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact availability

The 5.7-inch Xperia XZ2 will be available in Liquid Silver, Liquid Black, Deep Green, and Ash Pink. The 5-inch Xperia XZ2 Compact will come in White Silver, Black, Moss Green, and Coral Pink.

Both phones will be sold unlocked in the United States, through retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H.

The XZ2 Compact is the first device in the XZ series that is Verizon-certified and compatible with GSM networks like AT&T, T-Mobile, and their MVNOs.

In Canada, the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact will be carried by Bell and support Gigabit LTE, which should ensure solid data speeds even in rural areas.

A range of accessories, including covers, stands, wireless chargers, quick chargers, and headphones will be offered, with availability varying by market. These include the Xperia Ear Duo “open ear” earphones, which were first introduced as a concept last year. The Ear Duo will be available in the US starting in May with pre-orders set to start from this week.
