We’ve been anticipating on the Samsung Galaxy S9 to be teased at least at the upcoming CES 2018 but we’re not forgetting the possibility of a Mobile World Congress launch. Samsung is said to be unveiling the new premium Galaxy S9 on February 27, 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. It will be a Tuesday which is actually the day before the doors of MWC opens.

There’s an idea before that Samsung would launch the Galaxy S9 in September in time for Apple’s release of the new iPhone model. The goal was to directly rival Apple in the premium flagship category instead of being “ahead” almost six months before the new iPhone is introduced. You see, Samsung launches the new Galaxy S first quarter of each year while Apple rolls out the new iPhone in September.

Apple doesn’t sell the new iPhone model during month of release. The Apple smartphone is usually out in October or November. That’s like a half year of waiting. This year though, the Samsung Galaxy S8 was delayed a bit before of the Note 7 fiasco. Samsung had ample time to work on the Galaxy S8 and even more time to improve on the upcoming Galaxy S9.

Rumor has it a supplier has started producing the flexible printed circuit board for the Galaxy S9 earlier. This could mean the S9 will be shown off earlier. No problem with introducing the new phone even when not fully ready. It’s a marketing strategy that may help Samsung.
