- NVIDIA is launching a range of 65-inch gaming TVs under a new “Big Format Gaming Display (BFGD)” brand
- Each TV will come with 4K resolution, HDR, G-SYNC, and an integrated NVIDIA SHIELD
- Manufacturers such as Acer, ASUS and HP are involved, but price and release date info is yet to be disclosed
Looking for a huge gaming TV that does basically everything? NVIDIA might soon have something for you. The gaming hardware company has just announced a new line of TVs, the Big Format Gaming Display (BFGD) series, which include just about all a person could want from such a display.
The BFGDs (any DOOM fans want to guess where NVIDIA is going with that?) will combine “low refresh rates, low latency, PC-tuned HDR, and G-SYNC variable refresh rate technology,” in one 65-inch package — and the first of these will be launched by Acer, ASUS and HP this year.
Each TV will meet all the aforementioned criteria — including the 65-inch size — as well as having 1000 nit peak brightness, and an integrated NVIDIA SHIELD (that’s the Android TV part). This will allow access to services like Netflix, Amazon Video, NVIDIA GameStream, Android games and apps, and Google Assistant.
NVIDIA says it has been working for two years with panel producer AU Optronics to develop the technology behind the displays. According to NVIDIA: “All this tech ensures your gun fires instantly in PUBG when facing down a foe, that movement is clear and free of blur, that there’s no tearing or stuttering when playing, and that the action shown is at the highest levels of detail possible when you play with a suitably-powerful graphics card.”
No specific products from the range have been announced, so we also don’t have any price or release date information for them. They should be in-line with what you’d expect from a 65-inch display with 4K resolution, G-Sync and smart features (in other words, thousands of dollars).
