Amid rumors that it’ll be bringing a G8 variant to IFA 2019 in just a few weeks, LG has confirmed that at least two other new phones will definitely be on display at the Berlin show — the K50S and K40S.

The LG K50S and K40S are both mid-range phablets designed for media lovers that build on their predecessors — released earlier this year — with more cameras, larger displays, and bigger batteries.

LG V50 ThinQ review: Phone more widely available as 5G coverage grows

As we resolutely cross the threshold into the 5G era, there are a wave of "firsts" popping up in the market. The LG V50 ThinQ, for example, is the first Sprint 5G smartphone. The V50 …

Starting with those displays, the K50S sports a sizeable 6.5-inch screen with a waterdrop notch, while the K40S has a 6.1-inch panel. Both offer Full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratios.

Unlike the anticipated LG G8X, the K50S packs a triple camera module with a regular 13MP shooter joined by a 5MP super-wide angle lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The K40S retains the two former lenses but drops the depth sensor.

On the core specs front both phones are powered by Mediatek Helio P22 SoCs, up to 3GB RAM, and feature 32GB expandable storage. The K50S has a decent 4,000mAh battery, while the K40S goes slightly smaller with a 3,500mAh cell.

In addition to DTS:X 3D Surround Sound support, rear fingerprint scanners, and a handy Google Assistant button, both phones are also designed to meet the U.S. military MIL-STD-810G standard. Because who knows when you’re going to be watching movies in extreme conditions!

The duo will debut in Europe, Asia, and Latin America in October after debuting at IFA 2019, where we’ll hopefully hear about pricing and any wider availability plans. The phones will be available in two colors — Aurora Black and Moroccan Blue.
