Google just announced a new service called Project Stream which will allow gamers to play AAA games via a web browser stream. You can watch some actual footage of gameplay below of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

In its blog post announcing Project Stream, Google describes the challenges of streaming graphics-heavy games at a fast enough rate so that there’s little input lag to distract even the most experienced of gamers. Apparently, Google feels confident enough now to start testing the waters with the new streaming service.

Below, you can watch a gamer playing the yet-unreleased Assassin’s Creed Odyssey through Project Stream:

Google is looking for a select group of gamers to test out Project Stream to see if there are issues and how best to correct them. If you are interested in applying to be a tester, you can click here or the button at the bottom of this article.

Keep in mind, to be accepted you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a U.S. resident who is 17 or older.
  • You must own a computer with reliable internet access (Google will test it for you).
  • You must own a controller or mouse & keyboard to play.
  • You must have or be willing to get a Google Account, a Ubisoft account, and Chrome.

One of the perks of being a tester (besides being one of the first people to use what could very well be the future of gaming) will be the ability to play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on launch day — October 5, 2018 — for free.
