- According to inside sources, the Google Pixel 3 launch date will be October 9 at an event in NYC.
- Previous Pixel launches happened on October 4 in both 2016 and 2017, so this is a bit of a change.
- The location is also different, as the Pixel and Pixel 2 both launched in San Francisco.
A new article from Bloomberg centering mostly on the upcoming iPhone releases from Apple contained a nugget of info that many Android fans would like to know: the alleged Google Pixel 3 launch date and event location.
According to anonymous sources speaking with Bloomberg, Google intends to launch the Google Pixel 3 and other Google-branded hardware on October 9, 2018, at an event in New York City. This is quite the change-up from previous Pixel launches.
The previous Pixel launches look like this:
- Google Pixel — Launched in San Francisco on October 4, 2016
- Google Pixel 2 — Launched in San Francisco on October 4, 2017
If the Google Pixel 3 is launching on October 9 in NYC, that would mark the end of the October 4/San Francisco trend the company has built over the past two years.
What’s interesting is that we previously heard a reliable rumor that Google planned to stick to the October 4 date this year for the Pixel 3 launch. That information, however, came before the onslaught of leaks revolving around the Google Pixel 3 XL. Now we have a rumor that Google is pushing back the launch date and switching locations?
It could just be a coincidence, of course, but that is at least some minor evidence suggesting that Google is switching both the launch date and event location in response to the fact that anyone with any interest has already seen the Google Pixel 3 XL in photographs, GIFs, and even a full unboxing video.
However, the Bloomberg source is anonymous and Google has yet to make any official announcement about a Pixel 3 launch date. As such, it is still possible that the original rumor of October 4 is still true. We’ll have to wait until we hear something concrete from the company itself.
One thing is relatively certain, though: we’ll know everything there is to know about the Google Pixel 3 and the other Google hardware products sometime in October this year.
