At a special event in Maui, Qualcomm announced its latest processor with the Snapdragon 845. While this will be at the helm of many devices over the course of 2018, there are some other special capabilities of this chipset.

It seems that Qualcomm is working with various computer manufacturer’s to create ‘Always Connected PCs’ which are laptops running Windows 10 on ARM. However, according to the folks over at XDA Developers, there have been some mentions that the Snapdragon 845 could be at the center of some future Chromebooks.

This comes after a new Chromium commit was shown referencing “chipset-qc845” which is obviously the Snapdragon 845 processor. Unfortunately, there’s not much other information shared, leaving us wondering which OEM will be providing the new Chromebook and if we’ll see more of a shift in laptops to feature smartphone processors.

Let us know what you think about this latest development and if you would be interested to use a Chromebook (or a Windows 10 laptop) featuring a mobile processor.
