Create your own personal cloud with the $118 QNAP TS-231P 2-Bay NAS

The QNAP TS-231P Personal Cloud network-attached storage device is down to $118 at Newegg. This price was matched at Amazon where it quickly sold out. It’s available for $119 at B&H. It normally sells for over $170, so today’s sale makes for a significant saving.

NAS systems let you create your own media server at home. If you have a lot of digital music and movies, you can use a NAS like this one to put all those files in a central location and access it from any system in your home. It’s also a good thing to have for small businesses where multiple people might need access to the same files.

The TS-231P is an entry-level NAS so it’s designed for more basic use at home and as a sort of personal cloud. It has a dual-core CPU, 1GB of DDR3 RAM, and two 3.5-inch/2.5-inch SATA III drive bays. Once setup, you’ll be able to access the NAS from anywhere using mobile apps on iOS, Android, and Windows.

Devices like this need hard drives to go into the empty bays. Fill your new NAS with these WD 4TB Red hard drives for $100. That’s a low price for those drives — and cheaper than the 3TB version — and they’re very popular for use with bays like this.
