Active shooter at YouTube HQ (Updated)

Update 4/3/2018 at 5:50 P.M. EST: Police confirm that the YouTube shooter is dead. Four injured victims were brought to local hospitals but no fatalities were reported. The shooter appears to have shot herself.

Original Article: The San Francisco Bay Area CBS station reported earlier today that there was an active shooter at YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, California. Police later confirmed that there was a shooter in the building.

The local San Francisco General Hospital confirmed that it had taken in patients from the incident, but it did not confirm how many. Meanwhile, Stanford University Hospital also confirmed it had received “four or five” patients from the YouTube building.

Police were spotted by the local news crews laying down evidence markers around tables in the outdoor café located in the headquarters. The cameras also caught footage of lines of employees exiting the building with their hands up while being escorted by police.

Across the street from YouTube headquarters is the building that houses the Department of Social Services. It was also placed on lockdown following reports of the shooting.

Vadim Lavrusik, who was in the YouTube building, tweeted this:

He later tweeted that he is safe after being evacuated from the premises:

So far, there were no reported deaths from the violence. However, this is a developing story for now, so information is still coming in.

Last month, YouTube announced that it would ban content promoting the sale of guns and gun accessories. It also announced the banning of videos giving instructions on how to make guns. It is unknown if this shooting is related to that news.
